Itinerary Overview

The ‘heartland’ state of Madhya Pradesh boasts several of India’s largest tiger reserves and national parks with an array of flora and fauna thriving in its scenic hill country. Upscale accommodation lends comfortable touring and excellent flight connectivity makes it a straightforward extension to any itinerary.

Tour Highlights

Madhya Pradesh boasts the highest tiger population density of any Indian state and it also leads the way in terms of the number of national tiger reserves. Using the gateway cities of Jabalpur and Nagpur, this itinerary covers Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench, its best known reserves with good records for sightings (though of course these can never be guaranteed). Bandhavgarh has a particularly high population density along with the atmospheric remains of an ancient fort atop a plateau. Kanha’s extensive grasslands and rivulets lend it a ‘softer’ feel while Pench (which extends into neighbouring Maharashtra state) has often been linked to Rudyard Kipling’s celebrated Jungle Book. Yet these reserves also boast an array of other wildlife: from leopards, civet cats, wolves and bears to swamp deer, antelopes, hyaenas and even caracals along with hundreds of species of birds.
