Shreyas Yoga Retreat: Shreyas is possibly the only Retreat in India which is dedicated to the concept of Yoga and wellness in what can be termed minimalist and meditative luxury. A retreat committed to “excellence” – Shreyas lives its ideal for providing wellness, health and rejuvenation through the philosophy of yoga, expert spa treatments and the reviving qualities of healthy vegetarian cuisine. Spread across 25 acres of estate, the space includes cottages, organic garden, swimming pool, amphitheatre, yoga pavilion, many niches for prayer and meditation. Besides wellness programs, Shreyas encourage guests to participate in ‘Joy of Giving’ as a part of the community projects that Shreyas supports in the neighbouring villages. Dedicated to the philosophy of Yoga, Shreyas probably is the only boutique retreat of its kind in India. Combining the best of traditional and contemporary architecture with the most modern of facilities, Shreyas veers away from the conventional trappings of a resort or a retreat and offers guests a serene hideaway to commune with nature and self. Among the cool and restful sitting areas, pool side, library or the yoga and meditation room, Shreyas allows you the luxury of spending time with yourself. Aptly described as a luxury retreat with a soul, superbly comfortable and stylish and comparable to the more exclusive and private hotels of the world, Shreyas which means “Total Excellence” strives to achieve perfection in every aspect of your stay here. The essence of Shreyas is the concept of wellness of body, mind and soul, for the purpose of self- mastery that manifests as excellence in all that they do. The principal medium through which guests are exposed to this is Yoga, which is non – denominational and open to people of all faiths. They demonstrate through various customized programs that, contrary to popular belief, can be practiced by everyone – fit or unfit, old or young, supple or stiff. Yoga has an amazing effect on the body and mind energies allowing one to deal with life’s ups and downs with sense of equanimity.

Panchakarma, in Sanskrit literally means ‘five actions’, and in Ayurvedic practices these are procedures with significant purifying and rejuvenating powers for one’s body. The Panchakarma treatment is aimed at balancing the biological energies of Vata, Pita and Kapha; the essential doshas which represent the unique blends of one’s physical, emotional, and mental characteristics. Ancient scriptures attribute most illnesses to an imbalance of the doshas, and the Panchakarma treatment is designed to eliminate disease-causing toxins, release deep-rooted stress and unlock the latent healing powers of one’s body. The five-fold therapy is known to invigorate the body and mind, and is also known as ‘Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy’.
Panchakarma treatments are carried out in 3 phases: ‘poorva karma’ – preparation of the body, ‘pradhana karma’ – the principal procedures, and ‘paschat karma’ – the post-treatment regimes. Within each phase, there are several possible therapies; and our in-house experts will design your Panchakarma regime after a preliminary diagnosis. Thus, the therapies will vary as per your age, body type, dosha imbalance and specific ailments, as also by season. Needless to say, like in all therapeutic processes, each stage has its own importance – and while the benefits may be evident during the course of treatment, it is necessary to see the entire process through for long-lasting results.
Any healing process is best done in a conducive environment; a place where one can ‘breathe freely’, away from the everyday stress and strictures. At Anaha Spa, we strive to provide you with just that; expanses of gardens to reconnect with Nature, open spaces to unwind and destress, sheltered pavilions for meditation and self-reflection, yet with every creature comfort as we believe the path to wellness needn’t be an austere one. To us, Panchakarma is also about reconnecting at 5 levels: emotional, physical, social, mental and spiritual. Let us guide you through your journey to wellness and wellbeing.
This 7-night Mouna Retreat (‘Mouna’ means ‘time spent in silence’), was designed to help you to step back, introspect, calm the mind and possibly realign and re-prioritize your goals in life. Silence is not just absence of speech but also the quietening of mental activity. Periods of silence guide us on the path of self-discovery and self analysis, revealing avenues of change that we have not been able to identify or even realize in the bustle and noise of everyday life. Besides the psychological, there are physical health benefits of being still, quieting the mind and eliminating noise. Silent retreats help guests suffering from insomnia, high blood pressure, stress, burn out and the consequences of the maladies of modern day life like irregular, unhealthy meals and lack of exercise.
Before beginning the days of silence, you will get a detailed Wellness Consultation regarding your health, food preferences, specific daily routines and requirements, preferred meal timings etc. The retreat will be customized to meet your comfort levels and a structured agenda will be provided based on your choice of activities. A suggested reading list is also given, which you can take from our extensive library.
On the first day, a guided tour of Shreyas will be conducted to familiarize you with the Retreat. Manuals on meditation, breathing exercises, etc will also be provided and you will be given a “Shhhhhreyas” badge that will indicate your request for silence to the other guests.
You will be provided a handbook in which they can write down their thoughts and emotions during your period of silence. You will spend Day 2 – Day 5 (4 days) in silence but will be able to break your silence and speak to the staff when you require something, though this should be kept minimal. We suggest that you also use the note pad kept in the cottages to communicate any requirements or instructions.
Spending time in solitary contemplation can bring deep-seated emotional, intellectual or spiritual issues to the fore, and our trained staff will be there to provide any support required. During the silent retreat you will be carefully looked after so that we may modify your diet or introduce certain activities to keep you balanced.
The meals during the retreat are also specially customized and prepared with ingredients that are known to calm the mind and are easy to digest. The ingredients for the meals are freshly hand-picked from our organic vegetable and herb gardens, and all preparations are light and nutritious. According to ayurveda, self-imposed mouna during eating greatly aids digestion and improves overall health.
On Day 6, which marks the end of the ‘Mouna’ part of the Retreat, you will have an interactive session with our wellness consultants, to discuss any questions and share your experience of the past 4 days. On Day 6 and 7, you are welcome to spend time interacting with guests and partaking in any of Shreyas activities that you choose to.
